Rebates are available to El Paso Electric’s New Mexico commercial customers for installation of high efficiency food service equipment. Installing energy efficient equipment for cooking, ice making, and other uses will reduce energy use and lower utility bills for commercial food service establishments.

Qualifying equipment can be installed for retrofit, replace-on-burnout, or new construction applications. All equipment must be electric.
Applicable building types may include independent restaurants, chain restaurants, elementary and secondary schools, colleges and universities, corporate food service operations, healthcare, hospitality, and supermarkets.

The following high efficiency commercial food service equipment types are eligible for rebates:
ENERGY STAR® Combination Ovens
Combination ovens are convection ovens that offer three cooking modes: a combination mode for roasting or baking with moist heat, convection mode for cooking with dry heat, or as a straight pressure-less steamer. A benefit of the combination oven is that it controls humidity in the oven chamber, improving cook times and delivering consistent cooking results.
Eligible units must meet ENERGY STAR® specifications, with half-size and full-size ovens as defined by ENERGY STAR® and a pan capacity ≥ 5 and ≤ 20. Rebates are per unit, based on size. ENERGY STAR® provides a list of eligible products online.

ENERGY STAR® Convection Ovens
Convection ovens contain a fan that circulates heat around food, allowing food to be cooked faster, more evenly, and at lower heat. Convection ovens also allow for multiple food items to be cooked at the same time, rapidly and evenly.
Eligible units must meet ENERGY STAR® specifications, with half-size and full-size ovens as defined by ENERGY STAR®. Rebates are per unit, according to size. ENERGY STAR® provides a list of eligible products online.

ENERGY STAR® Hot Food Holding Cabinets
High efficiency hot food holding cabinets incorporate better insulation to reduce heat loss and may offer additional energy saving devices such as magnetic door gaskets, auto-door closers, or Dutch doors. The insulation of the cabinet offers better temperature uniformity with the cabinet from top to bottom.
Eligible units must meet ENERGY STAR® specifications, with half-size, three-quarter size, and full-size ovens as defined by ENERGY STAR®. Rebates are per unit, according to size. ENERGY STAR® provides a list of eligible products online.

ENERGY STAR® Electric Fryers
High efficiency electric fryers that have earned the ENERGY STAR® rating offer shorter cook times and higher production rates through advanced burner and heat exchanger designs. Fry pot insulation reduces standby losses resulting in a lower idle energy rate.
Eligible units must meet ENERGY STAR® specifications, either counter-top or floor type designs, with standard-size and large vat fryers as defined by ENERGY STAR®. ENERGY STAR® provides a list of eligible products online.

ENERGY STAR® Electric Steam Cookers
ENERGY STAR® qualified electric steam cookers are up to 50 percent more efficient than standard models. They have higher production rates and reduced heat loss due to better insulation and a more efficient steam delivery system.
Eligible units must meet ENERGY STAR® specifications. Eligible Steam Cookers can have a 3, 4, 5 or 6 pan capacity. Rebates are per unit according to capacity. ENERGY STAR® provides a list of eligible products online.

ENERGY STAR® Ice Makers
High efficiency ENERGY STAR® ice makers can help commercial food service businesses save energy and water.
The ENERGY STAR label applies to air-cooled, cube-type machines including ice-making head (IMH), self-contained (SCU), and remote-condensing units (RCU). Eligible units must meet ENERGY STAR® specifications.

ENERGY STAR® Dishwashers
ENERGY STAR® commercial dishwashers are 40% more energy-efficient and 50% more water-efficient than standard models on average. Energy savings are primarily due to reduced water use and reduced need to heat water and can save business an average of $1,500 annually and more than $19,000 on utility bills over the product’s lifetime.
This measure applies to high- and low-temperature stationary rack machines (under counter, stationary single tank door, pot, pan & utensil, and glass washing) and conveyor machines (rack and rack-less/flight type, single tank, and multiple tank) installed in a commercial kitchen.
To qualify for this measure, the installed equipment must be an ENERGY STAR® certified dishwasher meeting idle energy rate (kW) and water consumption (gallons/rack) limits as determined by both machine type and sanitation method (chemical/low temperature versus high temperature). Requirements for ENERGY STAR® dishwashers are provided in the following table.

Participation Made Easy.
1. Select a contractor of your choice.
2. Customers may also elect to pursue an EPESaver ENERGY STAR® commercial food service rebate without the help of a contractor.
3. Once the new oven has been installed, the EPESaver ENERGY STAR® commercial food service rebate form must be completed and mailed along with a copy of your receipt or invoice to the rebate processing center address. The rebate form can be accessed using one of the options at the bottom of this page.
4. Your rebate will be mailed directly to you. Rebate checks will be mailed within 4-6 weeks of receiving the application.
